Idea of layering

So this is a possible idea for my poke assignment about myself. I have always had a fascination with layers and the layering of imagery. When I was a modern dancer/choreographer back in high school I would think of the stage as if it was a painting composition. I layered the dancers in space by the different parts of choreography they were doing with each dancer playing a role in the overall composition of the dance. 

I view people in a similar way by understanding that every person has had experiences and passions in their life that are all part of the person they are today. Everyone has stories and their own personal ups and downs that shape the person they become and change into. 

For the assignment I wanted to explore the layering of events and interests from my past and present using photos, graphics and artwork to represent these moments in my life. I would start a separate blog that would feature a new layer every day until it finally built up to one composition. I think this could also translate into building digital collages for other people willing to partake following the template of a layer a day until a final composition is built up.

Fishs Eddy

Design I did for the fishs eddy plate design competition last year as a graphic design assignment. This isn't the design I did for the final version but I think it's better. The theme had something to do with children today which translated to children with televisions as heads to me.

I felt that since Mean Girls was on tv tonight it would be appropriate to post the movie poster I did for it in my Type 4 class. The other poster was for a graphic design assignment which was to make a poster for the Pratt Halloween Costume Competition.

I just came across some ink paintings I did sophomore year. I think I need to start producing work like this again to maintain my sanity

Some pieces

The logo piece for a vis comm assignment to design a logo for the NYC auto show.

This piece was a Graphic Design assignment to design a poster for one of the 6word stories featured in an issue of WIRED. The posters could be any size as long as it was square. I chose to do a type based design for Margaret Atwood's 6 word story showing the cyclical/downward spiral pattern of longing for someone.
